Bahamas Maritime Authority Takes Lead in Ambition Overboard Investigation

The Bahamas Maritime Authority is now leading the investigation into the death of a passenger who reportedly went overboard from Ambassador Cruise Line’s Ambition off the coast of Fife, Scotland. STV News reported August 24 that the Bahamas authority confirmed it is in contact with relevant parties and authorities as inquiries continue.

The passenger was reported overboard on Friday, August 21, roughly 40 nautical miles from Anstruther. Coastguard, RNLI and Police Scotland teams were involved in the response, and a body was recovered later that day. Ambition is registered in the Bahamas, giving Bahamian maritime authorities the primary investigative role under international maritime rules unless the death is treated as suspicious.
