We are cruising for the first time this July on the Fantasy. I am trying to research as much as I can so we will be prepared. I seem to find much more answers to my questions on this forum than the Carnival website. I was wondering about the pools. How many are there? I also wanted to know, are they salt water pools? Any other suggestions for ideas about our stops at Prog. and Cozumel (beach time with kids). Is it safe with everything going on in Mexico now??

I haven't been on the Fantasy but all Carnival pools are salt water.
In Cozumel I love Nachi Cocom. It is an all-inclusive beach club. They only allow a certain number of people per day (you must book ahead). They have a really pretty beach, pool, clean restrooms, a swim-up bar and restaurant. The food was really good.

The Fantasy was our first cruise and we were hooked. Even though it is an older ship it was still a wonderful cruise. Those Carnival beds are great for a perfect nights sleep. Our cruise at that time took us to the Bahamas but we have been to Cozumel on another cruise. We went to Paradise Beach and it was great. We took a cab to Paradise Beach and there were plenty of cabs available to take back. We then did a bit of shopping before we sailed.

Here is a link to their website.

At the time we went there was a lap top with free internet at the bar. It was nice to be able to sip a margarita and catch up on a few emails. The owner is from the states and is wonderful to talk to.

I looked at deck plans. Looks like 1 pool. Salt water. In Cozumel there are many beaches, places to eat, etc. Go off the main drag to shop, not so in-your-face buy-my-junk-cheap. They actually tell you that! You can also sign up for horseback riding or a cooking class on an independent tour. I love Cozumel. Friendly, easy to get around.

The Fantasy has two pool (both right next to each other). The Fantasy has already has the Evolutions of Fun upgrade, so the water slide is no longer ends in the pool (which allows more room for swimmers).

I know it looks like one pool, that that brown thing in the middle is a wall. You can not swim from one side to the other, thus it is two pools ...

On the Fantasy the water slide has been moved to the back of the ship, so 100% of both pools are available to the swimmers.

Sorry, in the prior post I should have pointed out that the pictures were from the Carnival Paradise, a sister ship to the Fantasy. Nonetheless, I did find a picture of the Fantasy pools after the upgrade ...

As you can see, the water slide has been removed, but the wall between the two pools remains.
