Hi Everyone:wave just joined and my wife and I are sailing on The Explorer of the Seas leaving NJ on April 25th. We did a Disney Cruise last April with the M-O-L and son , but this one is for us. We have a inside promenade cabin ( after Disney we will need to wait to afford a balcony again LOL). we are driving to NJ to take the cruise and was wondering if any one had any pointers for us as far as embarkation. Or things not to miss I know the Ice show is a not to miss but how about the more subtle things or areas of the ship to visit?/ this is the Bermuda Eastern Caribbean nine day cruise.

Hi and Welcome Aboard! :wave

I hope you enjoy your Explorer cruise, as you can tell I'm also going on a 9 day Explorer cruise in May. Firstly for embarkation I would recommend getting to the port sometime between 11 and 12. The lines always seem to be shorter then. As for the ships there is so much to see and do. The ice shows are a definite must! Also one of my favorite spots was the Peek-a-boo bridge on Deck 11 all the way forward. There is a viewing window that looks down on the officers in the bridge. Also check out the huge indoor promenade. I see you have a room facing it so check it out on the days they have parades going up and down. And also don't forget on those really hot sea days there are soft served ice cream machines discreetly located in the corner on the pool deck, its great to cool you down!

Please let us know how your cruise was when you come back! I'm looking forward to hearing about how the Explorer of the Seas stacks up!

Hi guys!

We are also looking forward to our first cruise on RCI.
We've been told that an absolute do not miss event is "QUEST"
We've also been told that we can't be told too much about it,
just SHOW UP and expect the best laughs ever.

Oh yes thanks for reminding me Mike. You must go to Quest! What is Quest you ask? You ask too many questions, just go to quest and volunteer to be a team leader! =devil

When is Quest you ask? It's usually towards the end of the cruise at around 10:30pm in Studio B (also the ice skating rink).

Ya know..... it's this "volunteer" to be team leader that has be scared.
I can't help thinking I'm being led to the slaughter when I hear that!!!!

(This part may fall under too much information -
look away if the thought of Orient Beach makes you queasy)

Actually I'm VERY thankful that I found pictures of Quest in progress...
because I pretty much never wear undies... and OH BOY....... need I say more?

I will be really surprised if you have anything other than the time of your life aboard this cruise. We are die hard Royal Caribbean fans. Love the Voyager and Freedom class ships. I should say we love the big ones! We tried Princess last Feb, had the time of our lives and have no regrets what so ever but it did confirm for us how much we really love Royal Caribbean. Please keep us all in the loop!!

For sail away we like the forward observation deck (helipad). Just walk all the way forward on the outside of deck four and you'll see the stairs leading up to deck 5 where the obeservation deck is located.

We've been on the Voyager (the very first sailing when they opened Port Liberty) The Navigator to the Western Caribbean and the Explorer two times, both to the Eastern Caribbean.

=funsign on your cruise.

We are sailing on Disney Wonder the day before your cruise departs. The anticipation gets more intense the closer you get.

Enjoy the short countdown =sailor
