I am taking my Mom on a 4 day cruise to the Bahamas. This is our first time cruising. Our cruise will be on 6-10 July on Carnival Sensation to the Bahamas. We are really excited about it and don't know what to expect. I have already booked a couple of shore excursions. We are going to do the Dolphin Swim at Freeport and the Atlantis in Nassau. I am having difficulties with the passport issue right now though. I am in Iraq and the only Embassy out here is in the middle of Baghdad. Is there anyway to do my passport through the mail? I would hate to go and risk my life, just to get a passport. :-( I don't know what activities and such they have planned on the ship or where to look for them. I was looking into getting our hair braided but was wondering how long it takes. I already did some research on how much it is and money is really not an issue right now. I am just looking to have a really good time and don't want our 4 days to go to waste. Any helpful hints or tips would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to know who else is on this cruise; so we can socialize a little. :)

Thank You!

Amanda

First off, let me thank you for serving. Second, unless they've "changed the rules" once again, all you'll need is your govt. ID [such as a drivers lisence] and a certified copy of your Birth Certificate. If you don't have the latter, I assume your Mom can get one. Since you have 'Net access, lists of the daily newsletter--called Capers--are posted online. Most readily at webshots.com. Lastly, the cruise has one "formal night". For that, you might consider wearing your "dress uniform".

You'll be stunning....and the subject of compliments [and maybe a drink or two] all night. :)

I can't help with your passport questions or the excurions questions, but I too would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for defending our country! You deserve a fantabulous cruise and I hope you get it!!

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments and help.;) I was considering bringing a video camera to document everything. Do you recommend this or not? Thanks!:)

I too, would like to thank you for your service to our country! Currently, a passport is not required for cruise travel to the
Bahamas; just a photo ID and original birth certificate with a raised seal. I always take a video camera on every cruise as I love to re-live those memories later on! Have a great first cruise; hope this is only the first of many.
