Hi there,

My name is Katie and my boyfriend Tom and I are setting sail March 8 on the Enchantment of the Seas. Its a 5 night cruise and we are curious as to how much spending money we will be needing. We do drink, but not to the point where we are puking that night and shielding ourselves from the bright sun the next day. We will probably enjoy a total of 15 drinks the whole duration of the trip. Our ports are Ocho Rios and Georgetown, Grand Cayman. We book our Dunn's Rivers Fall excursion with an outside source (Peat Taylor) and we are planning on booking the Seven Mile Beach transportation lunch and drink excursion which is 50/per person. Would you recommend that we just take a taxi to Seven Mile Beach instead of paying for the excursion? Tom just wants to know that he will have a beach chair with his name on it. As for spending, we aren't looking to buy big ticket items, just small souvenirs like t-shirts, key chains, shot glasses and maybe a few bottles of rum and possibly a picture on board. We are planning on purchasing one soda pass for the cruise. Other then that, we really aren't sure what to expect and how much money to bring. We want to bring enough so we do not have to be worried about whether we can or cannot do something.

Any tips?

Well, over and above excursion money, we plan around $100 per day for the two of us while at a Port. Some days we have leftover money and we just add it to the next day. You'll need to plan for taxi rides, and maybe lunch/drinks on shore. We are not shoppers so hardly any of our dollars go there. Depending on the port, we rarely leave the ship with less than $100 - $200...if you don't spend it you can always just put it back in your safe and use it later, or once you are home.

As far as our budget on board. We don't really have one, but again, we aren't big shoppers, nor do we do the Spa stuff, so $50 - $100 per day for both of us probably works, including tips. We do budget $10 per person, per day for the casino. I know, I know...big gamblers we are!!

I would recommend just grabbing a taxi and going to 7 Mile yourself. No need to book an excursion off the ship. Just plan enough time to get back with no problem.

We take travelers checks with us and cash them at the Pursers desk as we need them. More often than not we bring them home and use them at the grocery. :)

I hope this helped and have fun!!

hey!

we are going on the Enchantment of the Seas on October 4th...also a five day...!!!

my husband and I planned our excursions and spending money apart from on another...we budgeted $1000 dollars for our spending money and about $400 for our excursions(they tended to be a bit expensive) for this upcoming trip...we will probably come home with some money but we based ours of of my husband's brother and wife's advice...they are roughly the same for drinking as we are as well as souveniers and the like...so it was a good reference point...
