2/2 Paradise to Ensenada; advice for cruise newbie

I worked for CCL for about 5 years, but somehow managed to never actually take a cruise. I've been on a number of ships, but only when they were at port.

Now, I'm finally going to take an actual cruise, and I want to avoid some of the 'mistakes' a lot of new cruisers make.

First and foremost, I have heard plenty of horror stories from people who take the Carnival shore excursion, and then find the same thing (or something even better) on the island for half the price.

Anyone have any advice for what to do in Ensenada? (I like the idea of the Baja Bandidos Horseback Trail, but if you have a better idea, I'm open to suggestions!)

There is not a whole lot to do in Ensenada. I've been 3 times and there really is not much to do there. Some friends did the horseback excursion and enjoyed that. Some other friends did the La Bufadora (the blowhole) tour and said there wasn't much to it. We've always just gone into town to do some shopping and have lunch. While it is my least favorite port we have always still enjoyed ourselves. Hopefully someone else will be able to provide you with better excursion options!

A good friend of mine took the winery tour. He highly recommends the Honey Tequila.
