2007 - Good or Not???

As 2007 comes to a close, I'd like to share some ramblings.

I've heard many folks saying they're glad to see 2007 come to an end because it was such a lousy year. Mal and I felt the same way. And then I started to really think about it.

From a strictly personal standpoint, it was lousy that DH Colleen had to have a double spinal fusion. But it's wonderful that she can walk, even though there's still some pain as her bones regenerate around the screws.

It was lousy that my Mother-in-law had to have foot surgery because the tendon no longer worked. But's wonderful that she can now wear a sneaker for an hour a day and that soon she'll be able to walk after physical therapy.

It's lousy that my poor Father-in-law has a nasty case of the shingles. But it's wonderful that they're on his arm and not his face, where they could destroy what little sight he has left.

It was lousy that a Friend of ours who had throat cancer 5 years ago had to have his entire colon removed. But it was wonderful that it was benign.

It was lousy that my dear Great Niece had to be bedridden for the last month of her pregnancy to be sure she didn't miscarry. But it was wonderful that she went full term and delivered my darling Great-Great Niece, Graycin Marie.

It absolutely sux that our dear young Friend, Elliott had to go through #e!! and back in 2007. But God came through and sent a donor, and an excellent match to boot!

So, as 2007 comes to a close, I, for one, have decided that it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. I have a lot to be grateful for.

Here's wishing each and every member of our @ddicts Family a very Safe, Healthy and Happy New Year!

Ahoy There Judi !

Absolutely. As you so aptly demonstrated, it's all a matter of perspective. Yeah, many of us have taken hard knocks this year. And we'll continue to take them in the future. That's life.

It's not the cards we are dealt; it's more a matter of how we play the hand. We can either be proactive and (at least try to) take charge of situations; or we can sit back and balme others for our misfortune.

It's not my fault, because ...
In'Sha Allah ...
It's Karma ...
It's God's will ...

Horse hockey!

While we obsess about the glass being half empty, what is left is evaporating.

If we recognize that it is really half-full, then we can enjoy what is there and gain sustainence from it, which will allow us to continue to live our lives and seek out other glasses ...

2007 was sure a lot better for us than 2006. Paw and I both have improved health. We had a great cruise with friends and family in April. We now have two cruises planned with family and friends for 2008.

We had our share of sorrows. Sons marriage came to end but Penny is still here for us as needed. Many friends had to cancel the Feb cruise they will be greatly missed.

Looking forward to a healthier and happier 2008.

You already stole my line Judi :lol
I can honestly say though I am glad to see 07 go away. Not only did we have to contend with cancer again but I almost lost Dan back in May when he was showing a house and it was evening and he put his foot on the first step of the basement stairs(it was dark) and the rest of the stairs had been removed...he fell 7 feet to concrete and broke a lot of stuff and suffered for quite some time. The good thing is the way he landed and the reason he is still here. I am afraid that I am not the half full kind of girl although I work on that daily and I worry and stress out, etc etc but I get through it all. As long as I have my boys and my friends, I will be ok. And you my dear, are a very good friend.:couple

Ahoy Judi, and other @ddicts..it's been a glorious year, and a tough year.. so our Familial glass is Half full. we still battle ahead..and count our ledger as being WAYYYY tilted in a postitive way!!

for first and foremost we all have our good health;our happy home; three trips last year, our 40 years celebration of my parents successful marriage and corporation lives in Maine to enjoy.. and 5 good kids we are Blessed/Cursed with and their sundry beaus(ette):grin
..we are both firmly employed, and with life the way it can get.. that in and of itself is dang fine!!..
sadly still missing our sweet Scooter Baby.... and Hester Cat.. sigh..

our 5th AND final Child's college graduation to attend this May..Amen we crossed that road succesfully!!..our final tuition payment dance in December... was a long standing goal cemented..!!.. a long 9 year year haul of tuition and loans that continue for 6 more years yet to come!!but being that we can truthfully say when we married we made a pact we would promise to see to the end all 5 of our children with secondary educations to be able to support themselves to the style of which they had become accustomed to.. and we have done it!!..WHOO HOO.!!!

.. so as has been said reflecting makes you savour the good times, and be glad the hard times were *only* what they were.. and soldier forth.. Happy 2008 all!!...:daisy..Joanne

Very well said Judi....I am thankfull for all we have and the courage to get though those bad times. We took have had some health issues this year...and the seperation and pending divorce of youngest DD really hit hard. But so many have harder times so we are extremely grateful for all he has given us. May you all have a happy and healthy 2008.

PS....the only thing I DON'T look forward to in 2008 is the political campaign back stabbing =eek

Well My hubby lost a job and found a job in 2007. His biopsy showed NO cancer. We had our ups and downs. I'd say more ups though. So I would say a good year.
