I would suggest taking a smaller boat. Is this a ship sponsered excursion you're talking about?

Not a ship sponsored tour. A separate comany. You go out for 4 1/2 hours and see 26 glaciers, have lunch, etc. Thier web site is www.26glaciers.com

My wife and I took the 26 glacier tour this past May and I would highly recommend it. The boat is a high speed catamaran and the crew is very helpful and friendly. Many of the crew have been with the tour for quite a few years. They do provide a light meal onboard and there is also a snack bar and gift section onboard.
This tour is well worth taking and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Howie, Did you see large Calving Glaciers or just small calving Glaciers? I call a large glacier one like Majorie in Glacier bay or Holgate in Kenai Fjords? Carla

CarlaS you do get close to some good size glaciers. The calving is all left up to Mother Nature. We were fortunate to see some nice calving on our tour. You are able to get in much closer to the glaciers than on many tours because the catamaran does go over a lot of the ice fields to get near the glaciers. They also stop and break off some of the ice from floating ice and give it to you in a glass or in your favorite beverage if you wish.
You will get into College Fjord on this tour also.
The tour is very well run and very infomative. We did also buy a DVD of their tours from the boat. It is not of your particular tour just a DVD that does show where they go and what you may be seeing.
