60 days on Ruby

PEB

Staff Captain
I was on the Ruby Princess from Feb 10 through April 11 here is some information on my experience. The ship for the most part is in good shape. The ship also is the worst riding I have ever been on while in rough waters. The ship does really make a lot of noise in rough water and sometimes sounds like it will come apart however it does hold together. The crew was extremely friendly and worked hard. They made you feel welcome and did their best to make the cruise a good experience. The entertainment was some of the worst I have ever seen on any cruise and I have been on many cruise lines and many ships. There were only a couple exceptions and that was a couple comedians. The food at best was just OK however much of it was not good at all. We ordered room service many times especially seeing we got quarantined for 10 days and not one single meal we ordered came to us was correct. They messed up every room service meal order.

I know this all sounds negative however the crew did make the experience a positive one. Would I cruise on the Ruby again? Yes but definitely not for such a long cruise due to the food and entertainment. I would not due more than 15 days on it.

As I mentioned we did get Covid and were quarantined for 10 days. For that you were stuck in a balcony room and once a day they would call you to say how do you feel and how are things going. They never actually checked on you but they did test you again 5 days in. You could order any food you wanted for meals and it would be delivered however not once did the right meal come. You could order various drinks also. You were not charged for any food or drink. You did get free internet but the internet was not great. The cruise line did give some future cruise credit for being quarantined.
