7 day cruises on Century no more? Whats up?

After the century is done with its carribean itinerary this spring it goes to Europe for the summer. When she returns she will only do 9-10 day cruises. In my opinion this will be very hard for a lot of people to do.If you have a limited amount of vacation time this is not convienet at all.WE really like the century but will have to find an alternative. Celebrity is taking the horizon out of service which is no great loss ,but not replacing it in Tampa is a loss. The only ship they will have in the carribean is the Millenium out of Miami that does a 7 day schedule. We try to avoid the Miami area as much as possible so I geuss that will beout. for us.
Is celebrity trying to get out of the carribean market or what? It sure looks to me like they have something up thier sleeve or maybe just poor management decisions!Maybe they are going to be just upper end cruising and want us AVERAGE folks to take Royal Carribean, that is why captains club and crown and anchor accept each other now?I know that they sure have limited the choices and that doesn't seem like good bussiness.

I know how you feel, we really love the Century and need the 7 nighter cruise as well. I hope they change it back next year :(

I am hoping that they get enough negative response to thier new idea and change thier mind. I have called and e-mailed them as well, hoping for some response.I am cruising on her in a couple months so I will be able to talk to someone in person.Try giving thema call and let them know how you feel.

Typical Celebrity passengers are looking for bew adventures. New and exciting ports of call. Most of us loyal passengers have sailed all their vessels and the same ports is making it a "bben there, done that" situation. While I understand the need for shorter cruises for some, I welcome the new & diverse selection of ports. My wife and I are "done" with the Caribbean at this point. Once you go 3-4 times to these ports, they all start looking the same. I applaud Celebrity for leading the way in altering their schedules to provide their guests with new and unique cruises. Just my 2 cents though.

Longer cruises are definitely what we look for. 10 day minimum. We both work full time, but when we take time off work , a week is just not long enough to unwind from the stress. Besides longer cruises are usually less expensive on a daily basis than shorter ones.

I enjoyed the Century on a 13 night cruise in Europe. I enjoy non-Caribbean cruises on Celebrity, and longer than 7 nighst on the Century class ships. I think it is pacing and style of the cruise that lends Celebrity to the longer cruises and not so run-of-the-mill itineraries.

We for one are welcoming the chance to be on the Century on their 15 night cruise from
Barcelona. There are ports that I never dreamed of visiting like Corsica and Nice among other places. We personally have never been on a cruise ship to St Maartin, Antigua or many of the other Caribbean ports where there are thousands of cruisers roaming the streets and sites With the exchange rate being what it is I welcome the chance to get a taste of Europe without selling the house or the kids.. The days at sea are a welcome relaxation and we eagerly look forward to it It appears more and more cruise lines are heading towards the distant ports of Europe and I for one welcome it. A seven day cruise just doesn't cut the mustard anymore. That is why"homeland" cruising is becoming so popular..

My point was that it seems to me that Celebrity is leaving a void by taking all but 1 of thier ships out of the Carribean.I don't really care about the ports of call, i've been to all the ports in the carribean more times than I care to count.I just like cruising and don't even get off the ship sometimes. It seems to me that they are opening the door for other cruise lines to take a chunk of thier clients. And the other problem I have with the changes in thier itinerary when they do return is that they will do 9 and 10 day cruises. This makes it tough for the average person who only gets 1 or 2 weeks vacation. Then the fact that some employers will only allow 1 week at a time. This leaves out a lot of people.I geuss we were spoiled having so many cruise ships in Florida year round that the changes are not sitting well. Celebrity is our favorite line and Century was our favorite ship. I geuss we will try the Millie again and see what that is like.

Like I mentioned above I am really going to miss the 7 nighter on Century, but I am really liking a 9 nighter this fall :) It is going to ports that I really have enjoyed in the past and one that I haven't been to yet :jump And the price is really good too :thumb Now that we are Elite members we will even get to use the T-pool for free, it is so relaxing, the T-pools on the Millie Class ships don't compare to the ones on the Century class. The Century is one of our favorite ships and I am determined we will find a way to do the 9 night :grin We would love to get away for a 2 week cruise, but it is really hard for my husband to get that much time off at one time, he gets a few weeks vacation a year, but we spread them out :( I told him about the 9 night and he is going to do his best to be able to go, he is really looking forward to cruising on the Century again and to the Islands it is going to.
