A very confusing update

For those of you following my troubles with DH health here is the latest: MRI of spine shows numerous tumors or something growing on the spine, bone scan confirms problems in the spine, CT of pelvis/spine shows problem has spread from spine to lymph nodes in the pelvic area. Initially dr thought prostate cancer had moved to the spine but biopsy said no prostate cancer. Unable to locate the primary source for what they said was cancer on the spine they did the bone biopsy on the spine last wk & today's path report says there is no cancer in the spine. I said well I guess that is good news that there is no cancer in the spine then the nurse qualified it by saying at least not in the area that was biopsied (I assumed that if you had ANY bone cancer that it would show up in the bone marrow biopsy). I asked about the lymph nodes & she said yes, dr does believe it is cancer however, he just can't locate it & whatever is growing along DH spine it is affecting his ability to move. We have been referred to an oncologist/hematologist who is supposed to be the best in the area however we have to wait til Nov 6th to get in!!! We are so frustrated--frightened--confused. Our dr has ordered soooo many tests/lab work, etc & still believes that it is cancer but just doesn't know what to do. Our dr admits that he too is frustrated & baffled as he knows we have a very very serious problem & he can't figure it out. He has been conferring with other drs along the way so guess we wait til Nov to see what the oncologist has to say but I'm beginning to think we may be headed to the Mayo Clinic. This whole mess started way back the 1st wk of July while at a convention in Chicago. DH has had literally thousands & thousands of $$$ in tests for 4 mo now which confirm he is seriously ill--just nobody can figure out what he has. At any rate we have had enough stress for a while so Fri we are headed to Branson, Mo for some relaxation--have tickets for the scenic train ride & DH wants to try to get thru the Titanic Museum and then we will come home to wait for our next appointment. I feel like we are living in some kind of a soap opera. Thanks for your support--more updates when I know something.

Oh Cathy. I don't know what to say except to follow your instincts. If you feel you want to go to a bigger hospital and specialists go for it. What a confusing situation.

Hugs to you and hubby. I have walked the battle with bone cancer with my fiance Joe, and I do know how scary all of this is. Take it one day at a time but follow your instincts they won't be wrong. Continued prayers.

Oh boy. I can just imagine your fear and confusion and frustration. Nov. 6 seems so far away when you want and need answers NOW. You and DH remain in my thoughts and prayers. Enjoy your retreat, and come back with renewed hope.

Kathy - I know this merry-go-round is frustrating for you and DH.

Have you considered going to MD Anderson in Texas? They are VERY highly respected in the cancer field.

God bless - you both continue in my prayers.

Continuing to pray that the doctors will have the wisdom to figure out what is going on in your husbands body...soon! And that if it's important you see a doctor before Nov. 6th that a cancellation will happen allowing him to go in sooner.

I know you won't totally be able to foget what is going on...even so.. Have a great time in Branson!

Kathy - hope you find the answers you need soon. I was just thinking while reading that you should get in that car and head to the Cleveland Clinic - Mayo is just as good. But, tell your next doctor this! Believe me - after going through doctors with Nathan - get a specialist and get a good one fast!

Continue prayers and enjoy your trip.

Kathy, I think that it's a good idea to get another opinion. My niece just returned from Mayo Clinic in AZ to comfirm and treat an unusual disease.
