Your group will be assigned a guide. Whether you use him/her or not I guess is up to you. There was a lot of the climb where we didn't hold hands (and got separated from our guide) but there are some parts where you'll need to. The guides will try to keep their groups together so they will be sure to get all of their tips at the end. I think we tipped $5-10 at the end...I can't remember. Be sure to bring some aqua socks or something like that (my boyfriend wore his Teva sandals). If you don't have shoes, it is really slippery.You will have a great time....I am so glad that I did this once. I agree with Cruzman that you should avoid the market at the top unless you like being followed and groped by strangers.
