I am really kind(very) dumb abt diamonds. I have lost a small diamond from my ring-do you think I should try to replace this in the Island?

I wouldn't, but I'm not the most trusting person. I prefer to do work on jewelry at our local jeweler.

No way. I have bought a few diamonds in my 55 years and learned a long time ago to never buy diamonds or really any kind of jewelry from a jewelry store or any kind of store for that matter. They sell low grade diamonds with 400% markup.

Just about every city has a Diamond Exchange. There you will find the good diamonds that have certification grade, color and flaws and engraved with a laser. Last time i went I bought my wife 1 carrot diamond for our 25th anniversary last year, the diamond cost round $890, and set into a 18 K gold ring totaled around $1200. Took it to have it appraised and it tipped in at $5250 which is just what it would about sell for at a jewelry store.

As far as your replacement diamond, if it is not a quality investment grade diamond take it to a jewelry store that does in house repairs and/or makes jewelry, NOT SEND THEM OFF somewhere else. So no do not buy anything that is suppose to be valuable on an island. 99% of the time it is counterfeit or just plain junk. Stick with Tee-Shirts and tutti-fruitti drinks with umbrella stir sticks.

I would take it to Imperial Jewelers Maw I trust them totally all my jewelry has checked out. I trust them as much as my home town store. And they will be cheaper too.

Agree with Cyndi- Honey has been buying there (I've been paying-LOL) for 20 years. The larger items we have purchased have been appraised by a local jeweler-always 30/40% over what we paid. Jack

thanks not even real sure of what size this diamond is but have 12 of them in rin g. I took rings in this spring and they were supposed to check all the diamonds as well as resize the rings. I am not sure I even got my diamonds back but hadn't worn that ring much when lost the diamond I thought maybe you could help Jack thanks to you and Cyndi

Hey, I remember that day from the Emerald Princess cruise and a number of us gals made out VERY well. I am wanting to check out the chocolate diamonds that I've seen in an on-line catalog that I got from Imperial. Looks like another FLJack Tour is on the agenda for the next group cruise LOL.

Maw ....Imperial Jewellers is a MUST! I'm intending to upgrade on a ring that I bought there a few years ago. I lost a diamond earring (which I had purchased at Imperial Jewellers) when I got home and the service they gave me was exceptional. I've had all my purchases from Imperial Jewellers appraised and like Jack mentioned they have been valued at 30-40% more than I paid.
