Aft cabin choice

When I first cruised, I was told to book a cabin midship as low as I could to prevent the rocking motion of the ship. Nowadays, I realize that the improvements to the ships make it so that you hardly notice any movement. Most recently, I was on the Radiance and never felt a thing until I went to visit someone booked on the 10th deck up at the bow in a mini suite. You could really feel it rock. That being said, how is it that so many people book the aft cabins? Do you feel the ship move as much there? I realize the balcony is huge compared to others, but I can't take constant motion. Just curious, it seems that is the "spot to be".... hate to miss out on a good thing...

I hope this isn't too late to answer. I've been in an aft cabin a couple of times and found it great. The rocking didn't bother me at all as opposed to a side cabin, maybe because the bed is placed in a different direction. I loved the larger deck and wake view. The area was quieter.

Now, the negatives - you may or may not get some soot; cups or garbage from a deck above (especially a pool area); if a ship ties up behind you, your privacy is compromised; it's a loooong way to the center of the ship.

If I'm ever given (they were all free upgrades) an upgrade I would always take it.
