age requirement for room, adding a person? Help!!

Hi all! We are going on a 4 day cruise on the Sensation in April, 2008. I have a question about age requirement. We booked 2 rooms on Carnival with 2 adults in one, and then 2 teens in another (our teens are 15 and 18 years old). They took the specific info for each room and they did set it up with our two teens in the inside room. But in reading FAQ's on carnival site, I came across that there needed to be at least one 21 year old in room. Did they make a mistake, and if so, will this be a problem when we check in on cruise day?

And one more question while I am at it. OUr oldest who is 20 has decided he would like to join us, would this be a problem adding another adult to our adult room (we have 2 doubles in that room)? By problem, I mean, a fee for making a change, etc.). I checked and saw that is would cost a whole lot more to get him his own room, so this is our only option as 3rd person rate is cheaper.

Help!

Thanks in advance for any replies. This is our first cruise, and I just want to tackle any problems in advance. This site has been so very helpful so far! Thank you!! Thank you!! :)

They did make a mistake, what they do about it is another thing, you might check into it with your travel agent to prevent any problems. A simple fix is to switch so that on paper there is one adult and one teen in each of the cabins, when on board go back to your original plan, it is done all the time and what is important is that it gets an adult in each cabin.

Adding another person should not be a problem as long as you are outside of final payment, once final is made things can get tougher, again here is a job for your TA.

As a cruise T/A I can tell you that bOB is exactly right. The rule is that if there is someone under 21 in the cabin, there must be someone who is 25 or older registered in that cabin. (By the way, they do waive that rule for married couples as long as at least one spouse is 21) Just make the switch and have one adult and one child in each room. They don't do bed checks so you can make the sleeping arrangements any way you want once on board. To be honest I am surprised that Carnival allowed the booking to go through. Their computers usually red flag a booking when the ages don't meet the requirements.

You should have no problem adding a passenger if triples are still available and they probably are since you are not cruising until April. If the cabins you booked don't have a 3rd berth you may have to change cabins though.

There won't be a change fee since you are outside of penalties and they generally don't charge a fee to add a passenger since it is an increase in revenue for them.
