As a cruise T/A I can tell you that bOB is exactly right. The rule is that if there is someone under 21 in the cabin, there must be someone who is 25 or older registered in that cabin. (By the way, they do waive that rule for married couples as long as at least one spouse is 21) Just make the switch and have one adult and one child in each room. They don't do bed checks so you can make the sleeping arrangements any way you want once on board. To be honest I am surprised that Carnival allowed the booking to go through. Their computers usually red flag a booking when the ages don't meet the requirements.

You should have no problem adding a passenger if triples are still available and they probably are since you are not cruising until April. If the cabins you booked don't have a 3rd berth you may have to change cabins though.

There won't be a change fee since you are outside of penalties and they generally don't charge a fee to add a passenger since it is an increase in revenue for them.
