We didn't go on our cruise to Alaska this year, so I'm planning for next year. We'd love to spend a few days before the cruise in Banff and Jasper and then see Victoria and leave on the cruise from Vancouver. Does this seem realistic and can anyone suggest some webites on how we could start...leaving from Florida.

Well its possible as long as you plan for at least one extra week at the beginning of your cruise. You could fly into Calgary, rent a car to drive through the mountains (Banff and Jasper) to Vancouver, then onto the ferry to Victoria. You would need to have at least one overnight in Victoria to make it worthwhile before travelling back on the ferry to Vancouver to catch your cruise. As I said its doable but even giving yourself one week would be rushing the trip.

Have you considered the Canadian Rockies train trip? I think you take this in different length stages.

The train trip is something we hadn't thought about. Is there a website you know that will give me some info as to where we would start and end? Thanks!

I don't know if any other lines offer this but HAL has tours throughout the area that you are looking at pre and post cruise I think....so that might be an idea. Personally if I was coming from Fla and was going to do the area on my own I would fly into Seattle, rent a vehicle, do the Olympic Pennisula, cross to Victoria, do Vcr Island, cross to Vancouver and then do a circle route out of Vancouver into the interior of the Province & maybe Alberta and back for my cruise. I'm not sure on rentals one way to Van but maybe you could do that and then pick up a rental to return to Seattle (or use bus) and enjoy the sights along that route also before going home. 3 hours drive to Seattle airport. The first part would take at least a week to really get a feel of the area. The train ride is great also but you to get back to Vancouver for your cruise from Alberta somehow anyways or you could fly into Calgary and come East to West. Flight costs would be a consideration for me however. Enjoy the planning.
