alaska excursions on a budget?

I've been looking at the Alaska excursions, and they are not exactly budget friendly. The airfare to get over ther (from was) is already so expensive!

Does anyone have any suggestions for excursions on a budget? We don't want to ruin our cruise with a budget by not seeing anything, but we also don't want to ruin it by killing our finances either.

Thanks!

There are several local tour operators near the piers in most ports. There are horse carriage rides in Ketchikan just off the pier. The lumberjack show in Ketchikan is not to outrageous in price and is only a couple block walk from the pier. There is also a trailer near the ships with other options some cheap some expensive.

Juneau you can get to Mendenhal Glacier for $10 or $12, I don't remember the exact price. You can also get an all day pass on the trolley for around $12 and go throughout the main part of town and get on and off as often as you like. Local bus service is around $1.50 per time.

Skagway is small enough you can walk around and see the museums and some small plays about the Gold Rush days for very minimal cost. The local bus around town is only $1.50 per person or something on that order but the town is small enough to walk.

I hope this is of some help to you.
