Alaska on summit- guaranteed cabin question

Hi
We are going to book a cabin on Celebrity Summit for a 7-day cruise, Alaska Hubbard Glacier North Bound, We are probably going to go with the guaranteed cabin option, paying for a cabin with a balcony. Does it matter waht side of the ship you are on for this cruise? If we go the guaranee route, we are concerned that we might end up on the "ocean" side, since this cruise only goes one way. Is it worth it to pay the extra $300 pp and choose the room we want, ensuring ew get the "land" side?

thanks!

You are nearly 100% sure of getting a port (ocean) side cabin if you book the guarantee. Only do so if you can be happy with the $600 you save. Otherwise, book the cabin you really want.

For my money, your itinerary is one of the few where I think which side your cabin is on will matter, and I would personally choose to insure I got on the starboard side by paying the additional money.

I know that the Summit only does one way trips but in my experience on "returns" out of Vancouver when you can see land it's almost always visible on both sides. When the ship goes "Outside" it is too far from land to see anything anyways.

When in Port you either see the dock or the water side. right?

Actually, this became a moot point. we ended up taking the " guarantee" because there wer eonly port side rooms left, anyway!

so we saved $600

Terrie,

In the end, you're going to have a fabulous cruise from any cabin you get. If there are some places where the view is to die for and on the starboard side, just go to the forward bar area on deck 11 and use the soft chairs and wide windows. Enjoy your cruise.
