If you want specific info, e-mail me at BainBzr2@aol.com. We went last Sept. 12th on the OCean Princess to Alaska. The tours you take, obviously depend on those things that you like. However, a really good thing to remember, is that....... most ports and cities are small so be careful to pick your tours wisely, or you will end up, as we did, taking tours that really overlapped each other information wise. Things not to miss:
Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau - The weather was horrid, so late in the season, but no matter, it was phenomenal.
Also, take the train from Anchorage to Sitka, if you are sailing the Inside Passage from Sitka, rather than the bus. The scenery is way better on the dome train.
Don't miss College Fjord your first morning at sea. Some people (dumb) slept right through it. It was absolutely breathtaking even at 5:30 AM! We had gorgeous weather for that and Glacier Bay. The naturalist that we had on board was excellent and was a wealth of info when in College Fjord and Glacier Bay. All the while that you are outside on deck looking at the Glaciers, the naturalist talks and explains all sorts of things. I thought she was great. I hope you get her. I can't remember her name. She also gave a great lecture in one of the theatres about all the wildlife that you might see. Park rangers also came on board and they were also really good! This was also our first cruise.

Have done Alaska 4 times, 3 on Princess, 1 on Royal Caribbean.

One of my favorite excursions is the Yukon/White Pass Railway. From Skagway, you go on bus out into the Yukon (a beautiful drive) and then go on the White Pass on the way back. We got back with time to stroll Skagway a bit.

Mendenhall is a must in Juneau, and check out the possibility of using the city bus that goes out there. Plus, if it is a nice day, the Mt. Roberts Tram provides some lovely views.
