Alaskan Town Struggling with the Impact of Cruise Ship Tourism

As many know I have been to Alaska many times. I have been going there since 1997 some times multiple times a year and I even worked there for Princess lodges one year. I still love the views and the wildlife however I do not like many of the towns that have been ruined by the cruise lines. Yes they do bring a lot of money into the towns and area however a lot of that money does not go to Alaskans or the people that live there year round. It goes to people and companies that are there for just the cruise months and they leave for the winters. I do hope that I will go back some day but with my health the last few years I am not sure if I will ever get back there. If I go I will go back to areas that are not swamped by all the cruise ships and passengers. I know I will get stuck going to some of the big popular ports but I will pick a cruise that goes to the lesser ports and stay on the ship in ports like Juneau and Ketchikan.
