Royal Carribbean will sell you a bottle of booze and charge you approximatley $9 more and allow you to take it to your cabin for consumption. Can you do this on Carnival? Thanks.

when my buddy and I went on carnival he always wanted to sneak alcohol on board but never got it past the conveor belt. RCL is friendly about selling alcohol (bottle of wine , etc.) to you at the bar then bringing it back to the cabin.
But I'd recommend just drinking up at the bars on Carnival , you can get just as drunk up there my friend.. You'll end up spending $300 on boos anyways no matter how you look at it.

You may bring wine or champagne, but if you bring to dinner they may charge a corkage fee of $10.00.

Put it in your checked luggage and you won't have a problem; just wrap it carefully!

Okay, I am confused.

Will I be able to bring a bottle (or 2) of wine in my checked luggage? Is it actually allowed, or is it sneaking it in? I would LOVE to have a bottle of wine in my cabin. I have heard of wrapping in bubble wrap and such but I thought it was as much for protection as well as concealment? :) Nan

Below is Carnival's policy. No need to smuggle wine onboard, you can just carry it on.

Am I allowed to bring my own beverages onboard?
Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board. Fine wine or champagne may be brought on board during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise only. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the dining room.

Guests may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages. Excessive quantities, to be determined at the discretion of security and/or embarkation personnel, will be confiscated and retained by Carnival until the cruise is completed.

Guests may purchase a variety of beverages onboard the ship. Alcoholic beverages will not be sold or served to anyone under the age of 21. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. Alcoholic beverages purchased in the ship's gift shop or in ports of call will be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage.

Note: The legal drinking age onboard is 21 and is strictly enforced. We do not allow the purchase of drinks or bottles of liquor by adults for minors. Possession of alcohol by a minor will not be tolerated and any found will be confiscated, even if found in cabin.

I brought a bottle of champagne in my carry on when I sailed on the Glory 11/8 and had no problem bringing it on board. It was great to enjoy as a bon voyage drink!

My wife and i were on the Pride last May. I had a 12 pack of Coors packed in the checked luggage as well as 3 bottles of wine bubble wrapped. All got through with no problems. I took a small collapseable cooler for the beer. Paid the steward a couple of bucks every other day and had plenty of iced down beer for the deck!! We took a large bottle of wine to dinner the first night. They stored it and brought it out each night. Never paid a corking fee. My wife likes some ice for her wine, so the first night we told the assistant waiter (Clive from India, he was awesome and a terrific dancer) how we liked it and he took care of her very well the rest of the trip. That earned him a very good tip from me. We're going on the Spirt in January and the Glory in May and plan on using the same approach. I'll let you know how it went.

We travelled on the Inspiration and we managed to carry on a 1.5 litre bottle of vodka in our checked in luggage. We would take a soda down to our cabin and top it up with vodka as a nightcap. superb!

3 Carnival cruises out of LA in 2002- 2003- 2 on Elation, one on Ecstasy, no problem, champagne in carryon, bottles of wine in checked luggage.

Carnival Spirit out of San Diego - 2003- they were putting passengers whose carryons had been xrayed and found with alcohol into another line-

this was an unusual 3 day cruise before the Spirit left for Hawaii-

things were chaotic, I pretended like I didn't understand, and kept going, a woman started to come after me then said " nevermind."
So don't know if it was the port, or the ship or what, why they were more particular..

wine in checked luggage came on, no problem.

Just got off the Fantasy. We carried in our carry on a large bottle of wine. The rules are a bottle of wine for a special occasion. I call a cruise without the kids a special occasion. No one said anything. Also at deparkation, no one checked anything. Walking through customs consisted of dropping your customs form in a box, and walking on by.
