I don't think you will have any trouble hiring someone to take you. Just make sure you use someone right off the tenders instead of in the street where the taxis are. The guys with the signs know what ship you are on and are more likely to get you back in time. Keep in mind that Belize is on central time. Always agree upfront with your driver on price and time. Ask if they will stay with you while there or agree to pick you back up. Don't pay until they pick you up if they aren't going to wait with you! They'll come back for their money. If you know the name of some resorts and beaches that will be helpful and ask the advice of your driver. It wouldn't be a bad idea to take your passports just in case. It is a foreign country after all. I really enjoyed Belize. Most people are quite friendly and know a lot about the culture.
