Sara Lee...

The Rotterdam was the flagship of Holland America back in the 70's. She was either Rotterdam IV or V, not sure. She is no longer sailing because she was an old steam ship and is not environmentaly sound (or so I have heard). HAL has another Rotterdam now.
At the time we left from New York and sailed to Bermuda and the Bahamas. I loved it. The only thing that was hard was I was an only child and was travelling with my parents and my grandmother and aunt. That could be a bit of a drag when there were no built i playmates and you wanted to go off. I was 10 or 11 at the time, and there were no kids clubs like there arre now. I did make a couple of friends on that sailing and when we could get together it was a blast. One of the clearest memories I have was my mother being nervous about me being near the railing, she kept saying..."Get away from the railing, you're going to fall off!!" Since we are going on the Legend with our three kids, and some other family members I can already envision myself becoming my mother and saying the same thing!! LOL!! My mother should have been around when that guy fell off the ship!!
