Any info on Inspiration

I have sailed with Carnival 6 times and have planned a cruise out of Tampa in August on the Inspiration. I read these boards and others constantly and do my research before I go. However, I had read recently that the Inspiration is scheduled to be dry docked for refurbishment in September this year.

Any ideas on sailing on a ship one month from being redone? My instinct is that maybe the crew won't be up to snuff, never mind the other images I have regarding 'using up all the old stuff' on the ship. Anybody been on a ship on her last leg?

Most reviews I've read in the Inspiration haven't been that great, but I also know how reviews go. I always have a great time, just cruising is the BEST, but I am planning on taking my son on a 'surprise birthday' cruise, and I really don't want the surprise to be on me!

Thanks for your help.

Seems like we've been on one that was to be in dry dock soon...didn't notice anything different that I recall.

As far as the Inspiration goes...I thought the ship showed some wear and tear here and there but nothing bad. It was still very clean...new carpet in the hallways....bedding was great...service was great. Granted you have several more months before you are going. The ship's decor is better at night. The Slot Machines weren't paying out much at all. The shows were as good as usual. The food was great. I can't say I was disappointed....even though we were on a Spirit class ship last. (We were on the 5 day cruise the last part of April.)

If you are going to Calica....plan an excursion. Calica is a working quary...in the true sense of the word. They've built a building that holds about four different "shops" in the parking lot...outside of that there isn't much at the pier/port nor is much of anything in walking distance.
