Sorry new at this. 1st cruise Western. Cozamel will be a beach day, Grand Cayman Sting ray city, Jamaica undecided. 3 young adults 13, 15, 19 and 2 young at heart parents so activity is good. Are ther private tours to Dunn river Falls or are we better off on Carnival tours.

I read over on the cruisecritics message board that Peat Taylor is an awesome tour guide. I have never used him in Jamaica however on our Voyager of the Seas cruise in February we are going to reserve with him.

We've used Peat Taylor and he's fabulous. His tour was $30 and that includes admission to the falls (which I think is $10.) He picks you up at port, takes you to the falls and is back there to pick you up when you finish. He then takes you on a ride through Fern Gully and to a lookout point where you can see the Blue Mountains. He'll drive you around town singing songs....and he's a safe driver too! When the tour is done, he'll take you back to the ship or drop you off at Island Village for shopping or Margarativille. I don't know how much the trip with the ship costs, but Peat was worth every penny!

Was in Jamaica on 6/29, we used Phil Lafayette. He was also very good and accommodating. We left the ship and he had someone waiting for us. In our case, we got were on shore at 7:30 and he took us to Dunn's River Falls right away. This was great because we were the First group to go up the falls and was able to take our time and enjoy all the pockets of pools. He then took us to a river and we did the rafting tube thing. I was very enjoyable, the water was not deep or ruff. He then did a brief drive around and went to Fern Gulley and stopped at a road side where he showed and we smelled numerious spices. Last stop was shopping....but not very much time for this. The cost was $10 for the Falls, $20 for the tubing, and $20 for Phil. So for $20, we used Phil for 7 hrs. Very good price, I think for the whole day.

Sorry to be so late in answering--just found these boards! We had a great Jamaica experience with Trevor Hudlin (trevorhudlin@hotmail.com), he took us to Mayfield Falls, which is about 1 1/4 hours southwest of MoBay. Mayfield Falls is different than Dunns River Falls (www.mayfieldfalls.com), definitely not as crowded (ships' tours don't go there). Trevor lives halfway between MoBay and OchoRios, so he takes tour groups from both ports. I know you'll love him, we did when we there 2 weeks ago. Sounds like there are some good guides out of MoBay, also sounds like you need a guide (or at least a pre-arranged tour of some sort). Good luck!

We used Trevor Hudlin this spring ... he was wonderful!!!!!!!! Very polite... friendly! He took us to Port Antonio which is about 2 hours out of Ochos Rios.. but the drive was fantastic and he was very knowledgable about everything. We stopped at road side fruit stands to try the local fruits.... I can't say enough good things about him!!!
