In Martinique we took a taxi to the ferry. There is a crafts market across the street from the ferry. The ferry took us to a lovely beach. The cruise director will know the name of it. It happens to be topless. I mentioned it to my husband beforehand but, he thought I was kidding. In St. Maarten there is shopping on the streets at the pier. There is a beach right there. You can shop, swim and go back to the ship for lunch easily. In Barbados we did the glass bottom boat ride. There is a submarine also. Then we took a $2 per person (l999) taxi ride to a nearby beach.
