Those are excellent tips. Does RC Liberty of the seas supply soap and shampoo? There is a hairdryer but no clothes iron, right?

Also, are you allowed to bring your own bottled water onboard?

Has anyone used a babysitter? We are bringing our 2 1/2 year old son.

I am sure I will think of more questions?

Have you been to Calgon's web page. He has tons of advice and the most comprehensive packing lists you're likely to find. Definitely worth a read. Lots to read there. Try this link:

Calgon's lists

Scroll down, the lists are near the bottom of the page.

I just went on my first cruise and it was awesome. =docdance

I think walkie talkies are a good thing to have on a cruise. Unless you have free roaming calls, once u get out of port, you won't want to use your cell phone. Roaming charges add up very quickly. :phone

We brought walkie talkies with us and they worked out big time when we would split up on the ship. Make sure you buy ones that are GMRS capable. The FRS channels don't really work too well. Go for a Midland or Cobra, i think those were rated the best.

They don't allow irons b/c it's a fire hazard. X( The staff can have your clothes sent to press and back the following day and its like 2 dollars for each item of clothing. If you are a responsible person, and won't leave it plugged in, a portable steamer works great.(tu)

I just got back from my first cruise. Here are some things that I will do when I go again. our ship was the Grandeur of the seas.

I would...

1. bring a battery operated alarm clock.(we stayed in the center of the ship, because there were no windows to let light in we could only tell time turning on a light & find a watch or turn on tv. )

2. FIRST Spend a few minutes and go over the daily planner (the ships time-line) should be on the bed when you get in. We missed alot of fun stuff the first day because we just walked the ship.

3. a high lighter to mark of things you want to do.

4. a watch with an alam clock setting. Laying out when the ship moves has a gentle breeze & I tended to take naps on the lounge chairs. I missed some things. The grandeur had a poor speaker system & I couldn't hear too well, Also if they did announce an ativity, They would say it is starting now. not enough time to wash off salt water & change, (but I'm a person who won't go to something if I'm running late)

5. walkie talkies would have been a good Idea. He layed out while I went to cooking classes, we did lose each other for a while.

6. take a light rain coat. It thunderstormed both days in port & we went through most of our clothes.

7. do the motion sickness pills or patch the first night till you get use to the motion.

8, The ship allows you to take their pool towels off the ship. I shouldn't have taken my heavy beach towels.

9. Most days I used my light cover ups and small bag to take on deck when laying out with, lotion, mp3 player, book, or what ever. many days you need to be early to the pool areas to get lounge chairs but they don't let you save chairs.

10. Take a good camera & keep it with you all the time, Always something to see, dancing, belly flop contests, beautiful sunsets, coast lines and most pictures they take of you they charge $20.00 for.

11. A good shampoo. The water in the pools are salt water. My hair started to feel like straw.

12. My husband needed distilled water for his breathing machine & they did supply us we that, but it took a while for them to get it.

13. Do take a carry on bag with pool things & shoes. It does take a while for luggage to show up, but if your at the pool, who cares.

14. Book excursions on board. Many excursions are non- refundable,& say rain or shine, with the lightning storms many people chose to lose their depoits, one group of people went on the glass bottom boat ride but it was so rough people got sick.

15. Royal carribean didn't do a good job giving weather reports. So I went on line & looked up weather.com. It was 50 cents a minute.

16. We were so tired by the end of the day,but it was worth making an effort to stay up & visit the midnight buffets, & peak in at the shows.

17. try to keep your room neater than we did. a quick change of clothes & thowing them on the bed didn't work to good. they come twice but you don't know when, to make the bed & then later to put the newletter in & turn down the bed with chocolates & fresh towels & a towel animal for fun.

18. I liked the early seating, some of us gabbed to much & I hope we got out in time for the 8:30 seating

I hope this helps.
