It depends on the age of the "family". If you're talking about children, the the one tip I always offer is to be sure you and the kids attend the children's orientation/welcome aboard meeting in the chidren's area on the first day the of the cruise. Missing this is the equivalent to missing the first day of school,
There is a lot of information to gather that day, and the childrenn start to make friends and bond. I heard one person say that taking their kids there for the first time, a few days into the cruise, left them feeling a little out of the loop, and the kids a bit like the new kid in class.
