Kandella is great if your there at night...and across the way is Bantrys.. a little shop that sells items (dreses, shirts, hankies) made and decorated by Dominican women.. The ampitheatre is where Frank Sinatra and the is it three or four Tenors have sung,,, Cushions are provided..The other thing you can do is hire a guide (green shirts are supposed to be less $$) and go into La Romana...to the supermercado and stock up on Santo Domingo coffee beans (about $2.00 a pound) and it makes great presents and can be frozen, pure vanilla and 151 proof rum..lol. visit the flea market and the lovely church in town. We also buy an ice cream across from the school and sit in the zolca (park) watching everybody go by.. La Romana is a lovely little town... oh yes.. if your into cigars you can by the best cigars in the D.R. in the supermarket. as good if not better than Cuban.. Oh yes.. we are going back to a resort in La Romana in February....love that little place
