Nimbex needs to know what the condition of Hell is, in Grand Cayman. I had read that it had been severely damaged, maybe even destroyed. Anyone been there lately who can tell us??

Hey Nimbex, I just saw some photos of GC that were taken in Dec. Although there is still some damage, its not so bad. It looks like Hell is up and running, so it should be fine for your trip. Hope you have a good time.

Hi Natalia,
I didn't go to Hell but was in GC on Dec 16th. Although the hurricane damage was extenive, GC had gotten the business district and tourist attractions up and running. Many people on our cruise went to Hell and said it had held up remarkably well. I love to dive and GC is one of my favorette spots. The diving there is still incredible and the stingrays are still there. Hope this helps.

Thanks Natalia and everyone, we're going to try it, just fo something to do for an hour, assuming the taxi fare is worth it . We're going to end up at 7 mile anyway. Let the taxi haggling begin!

have a GREAT day everyone!

I was in Hell last week!!! I wish I could give you more info., but since I was on a group tour with an inconsiderate person* we only had a few minutes to look. The only reason I wanted to go was to mail some postcards from Hell. I was only able to get 3 mailed. Other than the mailing of the postcards I would not recommend going there. I had never been, so I don't have a reference for how it may have looked prior to the hurricane.

*A woman on the tour ended up coming back to the van at the Turtle Farm 18 minutes late. So the rest of us were screwed as far as getting to look around at Hell.

I was in Hell in December last year. Hell was still there looking as it should look from what we were told.. Not much to see unless you want a photo with the devil and to mail some postcards. We didn't plan to go but Carnival and Capt. Marvin's cancelled all water activity since the water was too rough. We did the turtle farm which was cute. But I wouldn't waste your time to go to Hell.

We were there the last week of April. Hell is still o.k. and the store and post office are still standing. The surrounding area took a real beating though. The downtown area is o.k. I would say that it is mainly the south end of the island that got most of the damage.

Did I read this right? You want to go to Hell??? Having not been there, from what I read, it is really hot!! LOL

Sorry, last time I was in GC was just before the hurricane and I went to Stingray City. Next time I go to GC I will also probably go to Stingray City. I figure I'll get to see Hell after I am dead anyway. LOL

Sorry, but I could not resist. :)

thanks all, update... hell is intact you can get the obligitory picture with the devil, but the hot sauce and t-shirt and mail your post cards, which is what I hear is all there was to begin with. the post cards did take over two weeks to make it home though. so for all you die hards ... you can still go to hell.

seriously? sharp, black, volcanic reef will withstand hell.. but if the devil stood through even a weak hurricane, well, i'd avoid that place.
