It seems like there is no info on the Star to Alaska. I guess it is a new itenerare for them. Or has anyone else done the trip on the Star. Looking for port info etc.
Thanks,
KIM
The Star doesn't go to Alaska until next summer. It has only sailed Hawaii and Fanning Island since it launched two years ago. It is a great ship. One negative for Alaska is that it's pools are all outside. I think that sailing out of Seattle is a plus, because it should be easier and cheaper to get to and from than Vancouver. The Victoria port of call is a plus, even though it is a relatively short stop. Glacier Bay is my favorite for viewing the glaciers. Most cruise @ddicts seemed to feel the same on a recent poll of this subject. The other ports of Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway are the standard (but uniquely interesting) Alaskan ports of call.
We have a group going on the Star 6/27/04 with $25pp deposits until February . Our cruise is advertised in the Cruise Deals section if you're interested! Or email me for details!
just booked the star for June 20, 2004 to Alaska thru Seattle. This will be our second trip to Alaska but husband was not well thru most of trip and the land part he had the Flu so he really did not enjoy it at all. We are not doing to land season this time.
Booking an alaskan cruise aug 6 2005. Cant decide between the princess diamond and the NCL star . Star is quite a bit cheaper Have 4 kids 19-11 any thoughts?? Cant find any cruise reviews about the star and alaska
Went to Alaska last Aug on Star, was awesome my review is in at the review section here, just click on reviews at top, then click on specific ship,NCL Star and my review is under Korina LaCount, hope this helps and have a wonderful time!
We went on the Star to AK last June - a truly beautiful ship and a very family friendly atmosphere in most places. Dining choices beyond your imagination! You don't have enough time on the cruise to eat in all of the places.
Hi Ann Marie. Your kids will have fun on the NCL Star. EVENTHOUGH IT IS CHEAPER they do have a fixed service fee of $10. dollars per adult and $5. dollars for children. That will add up, so consider that aspect of the NCL STAR.
Try to take a cruise that goes back to the same port because going all the way to Anchorage will be expensive. It is not worth it. The ships go to Whittier or Seward and then you take a bus or train to Anchorage and then fly home. I made that mistake the first time I went to Alaska. It was expensive.
The NCL STAR doesn't have as much storage space as the Princess ships. Both ships are beautiful but I would choose the cheapest one. You can have fun on both of them. I have cruised on both to Alaska. All ships cruising to Alaska are fun.
Princess may have a better deal on children rates. I guess you need to book two cabins side by side with a door that opens to each cabin. You need to book soon in order to get those type of cabins.
I saw my post from last June that we were going to Alaska on the Star and we just loved it free style dinning was the greatest. i would sail on her again in a minute to Mexico but there are so many other cruises I want to go on and we are going to mexico on disney this summer. Anyone have any question feel free to email me.
