Anyone ever cruise with Costa?

Hello, I’m looking for advice. I’ve been searching for an affordable cruise < $1000 for the Eastern or Southern Caribbean that departs Ft Lauderdale or Miami on or between 12/27/04 &1/2/05. Finally found one that fit’s it with Costa on the Mediterranean. How does Costa stack up? Cruised with RCCL and Celebrity before will I be let down?

Thanks for all your help!

We've cruised with Costa and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thought the food and service was excellent. We found many more Europeans on board and announcements were made in several languages, which made them rather lengthy. We met lots of great people and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Costa.

Are you a smoker? That was the only drawback for non smokers for this cruise line or so I've heard. Just wondering if you aren't a smoker - is it true - do they smoke anywhere on the ship and did it bother you? Just wondering, because I wanted to try it but have stayed away because of this conception.

There were quite a few Europeans on our cruise and they do seem to smoke more but we didn't find it a problem. Like on other ships, there were smoking and non-smoking areas and they seemed to adhere to that pretty well. No, we aren't smokers.

I've read reviews about the cruise line's improving food department every since it joined with Carnival.

Yes. Twice! Cruising Italian style is quite wonderful. There are more Europeans on board as you'd expect and you'll get quite a little lesson in lanugages from the announcements. But the food is wonderful, the ambience great. I wonder if they still do the toga party on the last night out? There is nothing like seeing passengers dressed up like Romans in their bedsheets, dining, dancing, and playing bingo! (Really, it's fun and not tacky at all)
