Anyone have the scoop on Caribbean Princess?

Has anyone heard the latest scoop on the Caribbean Princess? We were moved from the Caribe Deck to the Dolphin Deck because our balcony room for four would not allow a queen bed so we upgraded to a mini suite. After the fact it occurred to me that the Dolphin Deck is a deck lower and I am concerned that our balcony will not be covered. Has anyone seen her? When is this ship coming in? I look forward to hearing from those of you who sail her first!

The balcony on Dolphin will not be covered. The design is the same as the Grand-Class ships for those decks.

When do you sail? I just booked on for the 3rd sailing leaving May 1st. I am taking my husband as a surpise 50th b-day present. It will be our 2nd cruise. Back in 1997 I won a cruise on the Sun Princess and it was the most wonderful vacation we ever had. I can't wait to check out this movie screen on the side of the ship and watching a movie outside.

We're booked on her for April 10th. I don't think the cabin on Dolphin deck will be covered. I think the covered ones are on Aloha and Baja. Not much info out on her yet. Will be similar to Grand and Golden with an additional deck added and some new features, such as Movies Under the Stars.

This is #20 for us, our 3rd on Princess. With this Ohio winter, we CAN'T WAIT for April!

I'll be sailing on the Caribbean Princess on May 29th with my hubby & kids (ages 17 & 14), along with a few other friends. We also have a mini suite on the Dolphin deck. We were on the Grand Princess 2 years ago, I'm guessing the mini suites are the same size.

Voyager of the Seas -2001
Enchantment of the Seas - 2003
Sovereign of the Seas - 3 times
Nordic Empress
Grand Princess - 2002
Carnival Paradise - 2003
Carnival Sensation - 1999

We had the Caribe deck on the Golden and those balconies are HUGE and they also are half covered and half open, which is really ideal. You can have privacy and shade or you can have sun on you. I would guess the size to be about 10x12 for the balconies.
We had two lounge chairs and a round bistro type table where we could eat.

We also have booked a Dolphin minisuite on the inaugural sailing and are aware that it is totally open.

If you are on the Dolphin deck people on the Caribe balconies will be able to see you.

The people above you on the Caribe deck can see every square inch of the balconies on the Dolpphin deck. Also, if the steward washes the floor of the Caribe deck balcony, teh water will drain onto the Dolphin deck balcony so check your chairs before you sit down.

Hey Cruisinrg we are sailing May 29th, too! We are taking our niece (14) and nephew (16) with us. As I mentioned first post, we are on the Dolphin Deck second to last room aft end. This will be the first time for us in the aft portion of a ship. So far I have heard from many cruisers that they prefer the aft. We will see! I still would rather be on the Caribe Deck. What gender are your kids? Our niece and nephew are "convinced" there will be no one onboard their age. lol

Keisele,

I'm so glad you mentioned your 14 year old neice! My daughter is the same age & my son is 17. My son is sharing a cabin with his friend who is also 17 & another friend of mine & her son is sailing with us as well who is 18. We're on the Dolphin deck in a mini-suite middle/aft & my son is aft in an inside cabin. You'll be right near him & his friend. I agree with the other people, I prefer aft as well, my first choice is always middle & then aft, never forward. Where are you coming from for this cruise? We live in South Florida.

Cruisinrg!

We are coming from Augusta, Georgia and Columbia, SC. We have friends who live at Port Canaveral and Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdal so we will be driving down and staying with them. Our one friend works for the Port Everglades Pilots (the ones who guide the ships out to sea) so it would be nice to get a tour. We will keep an eye on the boys for you being they will be down at our end. lol

Kiesele,

Thanks for the offer lol. The boys will be fine, my son has cruised alot & his friend sailed with us 3 other times already, they're pros, except for the last cruise in November when his friend ruptured his appendix while we were out at sea & he had to be airlifted by the coast guard & taken to the Guantanamo Bay Cuba Naval Hosptial for surgery. Thank g-d, he's fine & sailing with us again in May. Yes, I know we're glutons for punishment LOL

We live about 45 mins. from Ft. Lauderdale. Have your niece & nephew sailed before?

Cruisinrg-

Our niece and nephew went on a four day cruise with their grandparents last year and they loved it! I think it was on Royal Caribbean. Since they are getting older we have been giving them "travel gifts" as Christmas presents. Last year it was Disney because they had never been there if you can believe that! Now we are doing this cruise. The kids are so much fun! Alas, one day they will have better things to do than hang out with their aunt and uncle.

Being you didn't take us up on our offer watching your boys, maybe they can watch our niece and nephew for us! lol Give us an email and keep in touch.

Kiesele,

If they haven't been to Grand Cayman before, I would definetly recommend swimming (more like standing) with the stingrays. My kids loved it, we'll probably do it again. Are you guys on early, late or personal choice dining?
