If so, which week and how was weather?

We're cruising the Riviera the first week of October 2003 on Star Princess.

We've heard Sept-Oct are bad weather months.

But this is our aniversary and the best time for us to travel.

So I'm concern if a cruise line will sail regardless, possibly putting it's passengers in danger (not to mention experiencing a horrible vacation).

If bad weather is projected will the Cruise line give you a reincheck (full pay) for another date even if you didn't purchase the insurance?

I think I mentioned this in my last post - we sailed last year the first week of Oct - 9/28-10/5. It was the best weather we've ever had on a cruise. This past spring, we did 10-days on the SUN - 4/25-5/5 - weather was also great - but the sea temp was no where near as warm (when the sea cools, the jellyfish come out to play.)

Two weeks later the cyclone hit PV.

We're doing the same week this year - 9/27-10/4 on the STAR. Can't WAIT!!

If you have any more questions, I'll try to help....

We were on a Panama canal cruise from San Francisco to Fort Lauderdate that left from SF on Oct. 12 2001. We were in Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas and Huatulco in Mexico and then Puntarenas Costa Rico. The weather was good the whole trip except that it rained and was cloudy the day we did the Panama Canal transit. But otherwise the weather was warm and we were able to do whatever we wanted in each of the ports.

I don't know if the cruise lines will refund your money or give you another cruise unless the weather is so bad (Hurricane, etc.) that they can't make the cruise at all.

We have been on cruises where because of the rough weather we were not able to go ashore at one port but never at more than one.

I'm not sure if this helps any but my advice would be go on the cruise and enjoy it.

Happy cruising.

IMHO it's highly unlikely Princess will cancel a cruise due to weather. They've got to get that ship to the next cruise's destination, and take in money . However, having said that, you must know that Princess will not put the passengers in any unavoidable danger. If you miss a port there will most likely be a cruise credit. Greedy passengers will whine that it wasn't enough but it will be a reasonable amount.

We've been on Princess when the Mediterranean "churned over" and despite only a handful of passengers being able to ambulate, a day and a half later everything was fine. We've also arrived to no ship, and things have worked out to our satisfaction.

We've also had armed guards accompanying us on tours and police/army vehicles escorting us. You will not be in any avoidable danger with Princess.

Happy Cruising.

The weather's great in September and October. You're thinking of the Caribbean and that part of Mexico; the western part rarely has storms in September and October.

Have done it many times in Sept, Oct, and Nov, and all were picture perfect weather. A little hot in Puerto Vallarta, but it's always that way down there.

If you'll be cruising when there's a full moon, be sure to go up top at night--it should be as big as a washtub.

Have a great cruise,
Charlotte

We sailed Star last Nov. Weather was great. Ship was fantastic! Enjoy!!!

The ship will sail unless they are forced to tie up at home port. Itinerary might change however! Sailed Monarch some years ago and they reversed the trip. First port last and last port first. We were dodging hurricane Jeorge! Left San Juan early and some passengers missed the boat but it was a very smooth trip.

Happy anniversary!! and many more. We're celebrating #42 on Island Princess this October.
