anytime dining

We are sailing on the Princess Sapphire on May 21. And because of a mixed up between my cruise agent & Princess Cruise line, I will not be getting main seating in the dining room, but instead we are having to settle for anytime dining. We have been on 5 previous cruises and have always had main seating in the main dining room..Of course our other cruises didnt offer anytime dining either.

My question is, should I make reservations for every night when I get on the ship, or could I wait and do the reservations that day or the day before. Any help would be grateful since I am new at this anytime dining and dont want to have to settle for a late night dining when I would rather eat earlier.

Thanks,

Darla Kelley

Actually I think you will enjoy the anytime dining option on the Sapphire Princess. There are 4 different theme type dining rooms to choose from so you will experience a wonderful variety in dining venues! In addition to the special menus of the "theme" restaurants you will be able to order off the same menu that is being offered in the Traditional dining room.

I do suggest that you make reservations for the anytime dining rooms when you board the ship. We cruised on Sapphire's sister ship, the Diamond Princess, in February. When we boarded we were permitted to make reservations for the first 2 night (ie Saturday and Sunday). On Sunday morning they opened up reservations for the remainder of the week. We ate every evening at 6:20pm and found that worked well for timing for the evening shows.

We were very pleased with the menus, the food and the service in each and every one of the dining rooms. We would choose anytime dining again. I hope the meals you have in the PC dining rooms provide you with a similar happy experience and you will not feel that you you have "settled" for anything that is inferior.

I’m not an experienced cruiser, but I’ll give you my take on anytime dining. I liked it. There were four of us and we were always able to get a table for four. Once we found a waiter we really liked we stuck with him. We also were able to find a table location we liked and arranged to get that table for the rest of the cruise.

Reservations are basically the same as reservations for a restaurant. The earlier you make them the more likely you are to get what you want. I would suggest you reserve your table for as many days in advance as you can. You can always call and make changes if you have to.

Slipping the maitre d' a 20 can be money well spent. Every night at 6:30 we were met with all smiles and led to “our table.†We had a wonderful time and the food alone was worth the price of the cruise.
