Article: 'Falling off a ship' isn't easy

Good article. I always wondered how people could just fall off of a cruise ship. I am going on my first cruise in April and we have a balcony room. Does anyone know how high the railings are on the balcony? Does anyone have a picture they can share?

Tha rails on every ship I've been on are 4' high on the balconies attached to the staterooms. You really have to TRY to lean over far enough to get over. I would venture to guess that virtually every person that's fallen overboard has been either sitting on the rail, stepping on something to lean over the rail or simply hammered beyond belief on a dozen cocktails.

I agree with the article. You'd have to be doing something incredibly ill advised to accidentally fall overboard.
