My maid of honor (22 years ago) used to work with Laurel as her assistant. Laurel had horrible bone disease, so bad that any pressure on her body would break her bones. She had two dogs she would take out with her on appearances, who were trained to keep people away from her. Once one of the dogs brushed up against her and broke her leg. But she shared with us the wonderful gift of her talent. Her story is remarkable.

I had some Laurel Burch earrings in the 70's and I just loved them! They were cats, of course. I didn't know about her bone disease. She was a very talented woman.

I've never heard of her but she sure had an interesting life and a good take on it as well. She definitely made lemonade from lemons. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Glo, thanks for the slide show - her use of color is wonderful! I'm sorry I didn't buy Laurel Burch cat cookie jar - I saw one once and passed it by - and I collect cat cookie jars! :kitten
