Asking for Upgrades

Has anyone asked for upgrades and gotton or not gotton an upgrade. Did you ask your
TA or have you called Princess direct? When is the best time to do this, or how close
to sailing. Thanks for your help.

Best way is to pay for the cabin that you really want. Do not count on an upgrade.

Hi Highlander, We have only recieved one upgrade and that was on the 'Grand Princess. We booked an inside gaurantee( lowest cat.) and two weeks before sailing were told we had been upgraded to an outside balcony!! That was a surprize and a bonus. This time ( same as last time) we booked well in advance(10 months) and this time instead of booking a guarantee we did book an obstructed outside. We told our ta to let them know we would like a upgrade (ha ha , who wouldn't) We did it differently because we know we shouldn't count on ever getting such a good upgrade again and secondly we will be on a new ship ( Caribbean Princess) so we figure it will be a popular sailing with less chance for an upgrade. Have never asked for an upgrade, but received one on our last cruise.
our upcoming cruise Island Princess 26/11/03 Panama Canal, we booked a guarantee AE Cat. mini-suite w/bal. and received an automatic upgrade to AA Cat min-suite w/bal.

I will be picking up my cruise docs today, if Princess upgraded us will I know today?

Paradise one month away on the Grand!

Cheryl, Go to the princess web site and click on the Personalizer and put your confirmation # in and you can see your cabin assignment, check every few days and see if your cabin # changes , that would show you whether you have recieved an upgrade.It is possible to recieve one after recieving your docs. but from what I've observed once your at the dock it's pretty much set in stone.Good luck and let us know what happens!

Possibly, but not necessarily. Sometimes they upgrade closer in than one month. The easiest way to track it is on their web site under the "Cruise Personalizer". You just need your name & booking number. If you've been upgraded, you'll see a different cabin than the one you booked ...or if it was a guarantee, you'll see the cabin/category that was assigned.
