floridajourneygirl,

My apologies for not responding to your inquiry on the Cruise Addicts

website.

I have been having too many problems with my login, I decided the site

wasn't worth the frustration.

However, I did want to send a response on this excursion, since I

promised to "report back."

Overall, we had a very good time, although in hindsight, I wish we would

have spent the extra $ to book through the cruise ship. The ATV part was

fun, once we finally got to go. We had to wait at some bar in the middle

of nowhere for about 30 minutes, because the people at Wild Tours did

not have enough bikes or tour guides to accommodate our group of 9 (7

bikes total). I paid the balance remaining in traveler's checks, and was

given my change in pesos. (I'm not even sure I got the correct amount of

pesos back!)

My husband's sunglasses had broken before the trip, so we asked for some

goggles to protect his eyes from the dust and debris that would be

flying at us. We were told we would have to buy the goggles for $8 per

pair, so instead, hubby and I took turns using my sunglasses. (We wrote

double, so whoever drove wore the glasses.)

Throughout the trip, our guides were constantly stopping us and making

us pull of the road to let jeep tours and other ATV tours go through.

For the 6 hour  excursion, we spent maybe a total of 2.5-3 hours on the

ATVs. We even had to stop once because one of the guides who was

following behind us in a jeep kept having to stop because his jeep would

overheat.

The water was way too choppy for us to take the kayaks out for the

kayak/snorkeling part, so we sat on the beach for about 20 minutes and

had a "snack lunch" of a mostly bread ham sandwich, a granola bar,  and

bottled water. The Castillo ruin tour that replaced the kayak/snorkeling

part took about 10-15 minutes. It was very small and involved a steep

climb up loose rocks and boulders. The final ruin, La Palma took maybe 5

minutes to visit as it was basically a large pile of rocks.

The guides asked for tips at the end, so I gave them the pesos I had

gotten for change when I bought the tour. Someone else was trying to

sell photos of us on the ATVs for $10 each. I got them down to $5, so if

you decide to buy a picture, keep telling them "no" or that you're "not

sure" until they drop the price. We had to wait another 30 minutes or so

at the same bar in the middle of nowhere until the taxi came to bring us

back to the initial meeting spot. Hubby and I joked that the guys at

Wild Tours had some deal going on with the owners of "Senior Iguana's"

bar that they would provide "captive clients." :)

Reading over this, my review sounds pretty negative, but we really did

enjoy ourselves on the tour! I just think we should have booked an ATV

tour through the ship or a different company instead of Wild Tours so

that we could have had more time before and/or after the excursion to

explore Cozumel on our own, rather than waiting around. I wrote a

similar review for Wild Tours, but got the message "this review will be

posted on our new website when we update our format," or something like

that.

If you'd like to share this review Feel free to post it on cruise

addicts, or forward it to others. Again, I am unable to log in, so I

cannot post.

Hope you found this helpful! Enjoy your cruise!
