Azores & Cadiz

Can any one help please? Are the towns of Ponta Delgado in the Azores and Cadiz close enough to their ports that one can just get off the ship and "wander" or are you better off taking one of the shore excursions for sale? Thanks for any help.

I have been in Ponta Delgado a couple of times, it's a lovely little town, very friendly people, weather should be nice, you can walk straight from the ship into town, and you migth notice: no stoplights!!

Cadiz, I have never been there, but I will be there this April coming in from a transatlantic from Rio to Athens. Rgds, PD
