Baby stuff

Hi,

We are going on a cruise for the first time with our 8 month old daughter, and I have some questions regarding babies on board.

Will there be possible for us to get boiled water for the babies food? Is this maybe something room service can help us with? And will there be possible for us to get her bottles cleaned?

And we have ordered a crib inside the cabin, will there be necessary for us to bring our own blankets or anything?

Are there other things I should know about, regarding having a baby with us on board? I have btw requested a table for 2 since I think that would be the best with a baby.

Btw. the ship is the Jewel of the Seas, 4 night cruise Oslo – Amsterdam.

Thanks for all advice/help!

Well, I have never traveled with an infant but I am sure that since people do the cruise line will have services that will accommodate you. You will find that your cabin steward will do everything in his/her power to take care of your needs. That would be the person to ask for any special baby needs. You won't need to bring blankets. I'm sure the cruise ship has lots of those. Hopefully someone out there who has traveled with an infant will have more input.

We have traveled on Royal Caribbean with a 6 month old and a 10 month old. We did get a portacrib in our room too. Yes they do provide you with blankets, however, I have always took our own blankets with us so they had our scent on. This way the baby wasn't scared with being in a new place.

I never had to deal with making formula though because I was always breastfeeding, however, you can bring your own bottled water and store it at room temp and use that. Or, you can get a portable bottle warmer. I know Avent makes one. Just plugs in the wall.

Again, never had to deal with bottles being cleaned, but I am sure the cabin steward can help. You should ask your travel agent or call them to make sure though. Our last cruise, we took a sippy cup to the table with us and our waiter would take it, clean it out, and put fresh juice in it for us.

We have never asked for a private table when traveling with our babies. When we had the 6 month old, we would take her in the troller, and she would sit at the corner of the table. She was always well behaved. Same thing with our 10month old son. We would just take him in his stroller and he would sit at the table in between my husband and I. Everyone at the table always LOVED them! There was a few times when our son didn't want to sit anymore, nor wanted us to hold him....after the waiter was done serving food, he would take our son for walks around the dining room so we could eat in peace. He would show him off to all the other people and dance with him. He had a great time.

I would save yourdelf alot of stress and for the few days your gone just bring the canned premade formula it is expensive but worth it not to deal with water issues (even adulst have trouble sometimes with diffrent water even if it is good water)
Also got ot he store and but 2 playtex reusable bottle and a box of drop ins for it then all you haveto do is steralize teh niple and hot water from your bathroom for 1 minute or 2 should d the trick of it s not hot enough then order hot water from room service (tell them it is for a bottle they will send a carraffe (is that the word)like for coffee filled with hot water )
good luck a table for 2 sounds just right...
