Back of ship room question

We are booked on the Legend in a Balcony starboard side aft. Pretty much the very back corner of the ship. I have heard that there can be be a lot of vibration at the back of the ship, and I remember having my teeth rattled sitting in the back restaurant on the Glory. Anyone experienced that with your rooms in that area?

Thanks,

With aft cabins the key is how high you are, we have never had an aft on a Carnival ship but have often had aft cabins on Princess. Mid way and above you should have no problem and in the evening sitting on the balcony with a drink watching the wake is hard to beat. remember the dining room are on the lower decks.

I was on the Pride (a sister to the Legend) in a rear facing cabin on the Empress Deck and I was fine.

Also, the Glory has a conventional screw and rudder system, which means it has rear thrusters. The Legend has Azipods which provide a smother ride.

Just back from Glory cruise--had balcony cabin 8433-maybe 5 staterooms from the stern--Super quiet stateroom-only vibration I noticed was docking in Nassau-we backed into the dock. Woke me up for only few minutes--we docked before 7AM. Vibration was not disturbing at all. Most of the nightime activity on deck takes place at midships. We never once heard any noise from mid ship pool party. We even propped our balcony door open for the freash sea air.

I had wondered why the Glory seemed rougher than other ships, and the first time I just figured it was something up with the seas, but I noticed the same thing on our second cruise. I didn't know that the Glory didn't have azipods and I didn't realize it was that different. I better mention as well for those of you going on the Glory for the first time that what I am talking about isn't that big a deal but it is noticeable. Anyway this is my first time in a Balcony and I am pretty excited about that so I doubt a little vibration(if any) is going to matter.

Thanks,

I have also been on The Glory 2008 8th deck room#8438 two rooms from the back of ship and I felt no movement. The only time we felt anything was like someone else said when the ship backed up at one of the ports. Glory was remodeled and I would love to see it now. Glory was our first cruise and I was very impressed with it then. Have been hooked on cruises every since!!
Have a great time!!!!

We had a rear cabin on the Legend. It was on the 7th deck. Didn't like it for a lot of reasons. One was the fish tail affect. That constant vibrating/ jittering back and forth made me nauseous.

If you take me serious, it's your problem
With the newer propulsion units most ships don't get alot of vibration even on the lower decks. I am certain that unless you are motion sensitive you probably won't even feel the ship moving, except when making hard turns, brakeing, and docking. On my last RCI cruise i only felt the ship move twice, one was a hard turn , and the other was docking in Cozumel... seems as if that channel of water gets quite alot of wind which pushes the ships a bit making docking a little more difficult..

You should be fine, your balcony is high enough that you probably won't feel much except perhaps when they reverse the azipods to slow the ship during docking. I'll be sailing the Legend in the second week of may, so i'll have a better idea then...

Ive been on Legend - Aft 5199 - (The lower, the better IMO)

No soot - little noise - no vibration. The view was amazing, but there is very little airflow - and everyone above you can look down on you. That kinda sucked. We had a bet that we would find a big spit mark on our deck before the cruise was over, but never did.

We were certainly bounced around in some rough waters doing Mach 7 (The ship had to make a deviation to get an injured passenger to a port with a helicopter) and that was the only thing I noticed on my aft balcony room on Legend.

We are headed back, on Legend, with the kids :O in August...Not an aft, but ext balcony. (Thank GOD for Camp Carnival!)

Breaking?

Breaking - Closely related to the act of brakeing. The reversing of the ship's screws, while still in forward motion. Usually results in a "shuddering", or vibration of the ship. In older vessels, can actually result in breaking (apart) ... Similar to placing your vehicle's transmission in 'reverse' while doing 85 on the interstate ... not always a good thing.

We had an aft wrap balcony cabin on the Dream, wouldn't have anything else now. The room and ride was great the Balcony was huge, spent a lot of time on that balcony. We had my daughters entire wedding party on our balcony at one time or another.

I would never turn anybody off on an aft balcony, well maybe on a north atlantic crossing. You just have to be selective to make sure you get the best ride.

Bob got it right, mid-way up and above is great BUT don't take the floor under the Lido deck!! When they start prepping kitchens, deck chairs etc in the wee hours you'll be the first to know and hate it! We've enjoyed many aft-corner staterooms where the balcony is about 16% larger and a wrap-around to! Great for inviting friends for a drink.

We will be on a Triumph outing from new Orleans and we have an aft deck on the 8th floor. Can anybody provide details re: the size of this deck and any pics?

Lars,
if you post the cabin number here you may luck out and someone have photos to share of it.
Also you can make a post in Google.
something like this.
"photos of cabin "1223" carnival Triumph"

and do a search, you may have to play around with the wording a bit to get results.

Although I have not sailed on this ship, I can tell you that an aft Balcony cabin is our first choice on ships.
you are sheltered from any winds, usually the balcony is deeper, and it is a great place to be as you sail away from ports.

And I agree with Earl.. yes it is a great view..

and yes..as Cruizer said.. it is of where you have been. And how nice that is.. to sit on that balcony as you sail out of (for instance) Fort lauderdale and watch it fade away in the distance as the sun sets.

all the other views are just sea.

good luck.
