Was it windy? I'm guessing you might have been experiencing some of the affect of the tropical storm. If there was a sudden cross-wind it might have caused the ship to list a bit until the staff on the bridge could steer the ship into the wind. Remember, the side of a ship is a big target for a gust of wind much as are semi trucks, just one big slab. Steeing the ship into a strong wind lessend the resistance and the ship would've stopped lising. Sound logical? That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!

Hope you had a great trip.

happened to us on Mercury going into port in Ft Laud. Bad storm in the middle of the night & it was a significant list. We rolled out of bed, the dishes all were broken in the DR & the auto doors open & the s lower decks were a mess. I felt bad--we got off aftre a great cruise & the next trip had engine damage & missed a port. Someof the smaller celeb ships may not be as stable as the newer ones from what we heard.

My understanding is that size alone is no indicator of stability. In fact, the largest cruise ships have a relatively shallow, flat, draft (the underwater bits) so they can dock at more ports. By comparison, the classic liners extended much farther underwater for this very reason.
