Baggage tag ?

3 weeks away from first cruise :)

I have a (perhaps stupid) question:

Rec'd email documents from RC. (love online check-in btw!)

Instructions state " to assist you in filling in the required baggage tag info upon arrival at the pier, please copy from the info listed provided" The there is a printed example of a baggage tag wich incudes stateroom #, quadrant # etc.

So...do we use our own baggage tags and write this info on them? Or should I "assume" RC (like airlines) will put thier own baggage tags on and will I need to write this info on thier tags when we arrive?
Or do we do both ours and thiers to be safe?

Sorry to be so unsure! Thanks...

Sorry I don't know the facts on this, as we had traditional paper docs that included the pre-printed tags for our Enchantment cruise last week.

For what it's worth, When your instructions said
to assist you in filling in the required baggage tag info upon arrival at the pier
, it sounds to me like there will be baggage tags for you to fill in at the pier.

Still that surprises me as, prior to getting our docs, another poster told me that if we received on-line docs, there would be a page of luggage tags in it for us to print out. Is there nothing like that there?

And if you do have to fill out tags at the pier, be sure to bring some return address labels, from home to use. It sure cuts down on how much writing you have to do, to be able to just fill in the name and address part with a simple stick on.

BTW, always have your own tags on your luggage, no matter what. The ones from the cruise line are just paper, sturdy paper for sure, but still paper, and thus easily lost.

Thank you Gayle - your comments have helped! I agree, it appears we will be wrting out baggage tags at the pier. The tip for bringing return address labels is excellet - thanks!
Actually, when I printed the docs, the "baggage tag" does appear like a "real" one, but the statement " please copy the info" kinda confused me.

Regardless, I'll be prepared - and have our own tags with info as well.

BTW - have you posted any pics from your cruise? Hope you had a wonderful time :)

When you get to the pier the porters will have plenty of blank luggage tags for you. The "main" thing you want to put on these tags is your cabin number... all you are trying to do here is make sure your luggage is delivered to your room...address labels really aren't needed..now for getting OFF the ship at the end the address labels come in handy... if your bag gets lost or picked up by someone else it will help get it returned to you...

Thanks kasey! Makes sense now. I'm so used to flying - and worrying that our luggage won't make the transfer when we change flights that it hadn't occured to me we just need to ensure it makes it to our cabin! Geez, I'm overlooking the obvious because I'm so nervous and excited!

Thanks again!

We had the same instructions recently on our last cruise out of Miami. When we located the transfer people, the one with the Rccl sign at the bagage claim, the man gave us the tags on which he hand wrote our cabin number. We had no problem with this change in the usual way when we were sent the tags with our ticket booklet.
