Bahamas can be kinda cool in January. While unusual, nighttime temps can dip into the low 50's. No way to predict sea conditions, but they are usually fairly calm unless a cold front happens to dip that far south. Hope it all works out for you; relax and enjoy!

Thanks for responding Cruzman!!!!!

I am gonna take a jacket.
I would rather have one and not need it, then not have one and need it!!!!!

Even in the summer time the ships are cold in the public lounges. A jacket maybe too much.. a sweater will do.

We cruised to Freeport last Febraury. We left a bad storm and went into a cold front in the Bahamas- it was 52 degrees. Even the locals say that is not the norm for their island. Funny sitting on a beach with people wearing LOTS of clothes.

when ya get back--please post and let us know about the weather

Well, we were in the Bahamas at the end of November last year and it was warm enough to swim, but the ocean water was not warm like it is farther south (Cozumel, etc.).
