We r going on the Carnival Triumph out of New Orleans oct 16, and 2 of our ports are nassau and freeport, bahamas. And need ideas or advice on things to do while in port, we would like to find some nice family beaches, possibly snorkel, good food, and some shopping but dont really want to do the carnival excursions. Any help is appreciated, thanks!!!!

In Freeport we went to the beach at Lucaya. It is a cheap taxi ride there. Across the street from the beach they had a cool marketplace and the Count Bassie Pavilion which is just outside of a bar that made some great rum punch. :beach: The pavillion had a musician playing Caribbean music. No charge to hang out in the pavillion. We enjoyed it a lot.

In Nassau we have done the day trip to Breezes on Cable Beach several times or just gone snorkeling.

The best beach is Cable Beach which can be reached by Taxi. That's where most of the resorts are. A lot of people go to Paradise Islland but remember that Paradise island is in the Harbor, not on the Ocean. Cable Beach is an Ocean beach. There are a lot of local vendors there offering a wide variety of water activities.
