Hi all,

These stops are on our itinerary with the Golden Princess in May. We've never been to these ports and are anxious to know what excursions we should do. Does anyone had any recommendations?

Thanks

The pitons, especially by sea / catamaran are fabulous in St. Lucia! It was the best excursion I've ever taken. We did the land portion too & went to the drive in volcano.

We went to a beach past Holetown, I think it was Folktown, in Barbados. It was a very narrow beach but it had a beautiful snorkeling reef. The chair rentals are very overpriced for extremely rickity chairs. I wish I had brought 2 towels from the ship.

The Five Star Catamaran excursion in Barbados is pricey but fabulous even the lunch of local fare is excellent. Stay away from the beach in Holetown ,I have no idea why they go there, there are excellent beaches in Barbados, that`s not one of them. The Boatyard is a good choice if you are looking for just beach.

We like to do some inexpensive shopping then hit the beach. In Barbados there is a nice mall at the dock. We did the glass bottom boat that our ship offered as an excursion on our own for less money. There is a tourist info. booth in the mall. Afterward my daughter and I wanted to go to the beach but, my husband didn't. The man at the tourist info. booth found us a cab driver that he knew personally to take us to a nearby beach where we rented an aqua trike. Then we shared a van back to the ship with a bunch of people. In St. Lucia we hired a taxi driver to take us to Caribelle Batik for the most beautiful reasonably priced clothing you have ever seen. We beat the ship's excursion there. We had our own demonstration on how the fabric is decorated and died. We had the dressing room to ourselves and we left just as the bus was arriving. Then our driver took us to Reduit (Red-wee)Beach. He dropped us off at the St. Lucian Rex. We walked through the open air lobby to the beach.

we took the jeep excursion at St. Lucia a few years ago (holds about 8 people in the back)...it took us up through rain forest, etc.. saw a lot of the country which we would not have seen otherwise. The forest and greenery in St. Lucia was absolutely beautiful! In Barbados, we took a cab to a beach not loaded with tourists...sipped rum punch, snorkeled and layed on the beach all afternoon (also gorgeous).

This year we get to add San Juan, Labadee and St. Johns (Antigua) to our itinerary - still researching the excursion to see what is in store for us. No matter what - see some of the country in St. Lucia - like I said, it is absolutely beautiful.

happy sailing

On Barbados: The five-star catamaran champagne lunch and snorkel tour is pricey but worth every dollar. You get a lovely ride up the coast, snorkeling off a beautiful white sand beach, and a great lunch of local fare (flying fish, chicken, salads, bread, dessert and for those who want it --champagne!) The ride back is equally lovely with passengers just relaxing and reflecting on a perfect day -- a nice alternative to those "pirate rum punch rumbas"

Or--grab a cab at the shopping mall a short walk from the ship (fares are clearly posted) to one of the beaches. You can arrange with the cab driver to return to pick you up--the beaches are lovely and you can rent water sport equipment on most beaches or go for a parasail.

Bonus: You can buy tropical flowers for a reasonable fee in the shopping mall for your cabin--hibiscus and antherium in a a lovely bamboo vase.

On St. Lucia: If you are a land lover--take the jeep tour to the rain forest, but my favorite is taking a sailboat or cat up the coast toward the Pitons. The lush beauty of the island is spread out for your viewing pleasure. If you are feeling ambitious, you can take a short drive up the coast to a spot where you can rent kayaks. This tour is for folks who want to get quite q bit of exercise because after kayaking your way back down the coast (with flying fish sometimes landing in your kayak) you land on a rocky beach, then swim out to a boat and then go on to snorkel!

Can't help with Antigua--maybe another poster can?

Was in Antigua April 6th.

take a cab to Long Bay Beach for very nice snorkeling.

What I did in the morning was take a 3 1/2 hour cab tour...$20 each person... you can just go out front on the pier and find a guy willing to take you around... then had lunch on ship, then went back out and took a cab to the beach. cab to beach was 15 each way for 2 people... it is a bit of a drive form the pier, but well worth it...20-25 minutes depending on traffic.

will post pictures by wednesday night, look in the gallery for 'Lex's Sun Princess Trip'
