Need to book a nice but reasonable hotel in Barcelona for one night only - Oct 4th. My TA is telling me that only one, at a cost of $458/night is available. I think I can do better. I'd like something that is convenient to getting to the airport on a Saturday morning.

On the net type in luxury hotels barcelona . Enter the date you want and the site will list hotels that are open on Oct 4 with location and area of the city. There were plenty listed tonight. Look for Ramblas or city center area.

I found and booked Hotel Rivoli Rambas for $189/night, $206 with taxes. Anyone have experience with this place?

Try the Barcelona Hilton. We're using Hilton Honors points for our stay, but I believe the cost of a double is about $250.

We stayed at the Best Western Hotel Millennium last May. It's not far from Las Ramblas--about a 15-20 minute walk (less than a mile). Our rate was about 130 Euro a night. It's a fairly new hotel and very clean with smallish room and huge bathroom; also included is a nice breakfast buffet. I'd recommend it for your overnight stay. You can check them out at <http://www.bestwestern.com/prop_92203>

Another possibility is Hotel Ramblas Barcelona. We looked it over and it's a very nicely renovated hotel at Ramblas 33, overlooking all the action. Very nice bar and restaurant. Rate is about 150 Euro a night. They have a web site at <http://www.ramblashoteles.com/>

If you can get a "special" you might want to look at the Hotel Majestic... it is an elegant hotel and pretty expensive, but sometimes has deals. More info at <http://cruisediva.com/hotel_majestic.htm>

Any of the hotels will call a taxi for your trip to the airport. They can also advise you about the amount of time you need for check-in, etc. We find they are very attuned to that in Barcelona.

Hope this helps!

It is interesting that you came up with these. We are booked at the Majestic for the two days prior to our cruise and have booked the Hotel Rivoli Ramblas for the one post cruise night. Thanks for letting me know we made good choices.

Frank, I'd really appreciate your feedback when you return. But are you sure that Hotel Rivoli Ramblas is the same one I mentioned?

LeMeridian is a VERY NICE Hotel as id the Tryp Apolo. They are both within walking distance of The Ramblas which is nice open air street venue with LOTS of activity.

Frank,
We are staying at the Rambla Rivoli July 22 and Aug. 4-7. We booked through Hoteldiscount.com which had a cheaper price than Hotels.com even though both are the same.

We will let you know how it is.
