My favorite place is Playa Sol. It's a beach-like resort. You can take a taxi there from the pier ($14) and it costs $8 to get in. They have floating mats, hammocks, chairs, etc. They offer food and drinks for sale. You can also for an extra charge, go parasailing, rent waverunners, get a massage on the beach. They have a lot to do and its a fun place to spend time while in Cozumel.

Chankanaab National Park. Ten dollars admission, beautiful beach with frozen thingees (not to mention beer) served at your pleasure. Snorkel gear as well as scuba is available for rent and lots of hiking trails.

I know its $14 to Playa Sol, which is just a mile or two south of there, so it should not be more than that.

We loved Mr Sanchos in Cozumel. No entrance fee. The beach, the changing rooms, and the bathrooms were clean. The beer ice cold and the shrimp quesadeas and guacamole were awesome! Take care, Shannon

LOVED Mr. Sancho's (two cruises)...just tell the cabbie, he'll know. Yummy food, cheap beer, don't even have to buy anything to enjoy the great beach. Second time in Coz I thought I should try something different...Chankanaab..paid the fee, but left and went back to Mr. Sancho's! Chankanaab's beach felt too artificial for me personally. It was a sort of a deep, triangular thing instead of a nice long stretch along the coast. Actually I think it IS artificial. It is rare to find a great natural sand beach AND a reef.... they have the reef, I think they added the beach. This time, Back to Mr. Sancho's! P.S. the cab is about $15 each way :)

p.s. I am an avid snorkeler but sadly could not even enjoy THAT at Chankanaab due to masses of teeny, stinging jellyfish that day! Never know what the conditions will be...same day, down at Mr. Sanchos, no Jellyfish! Go figure. Guess the little guys like the coral.

PARADISE BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is new!! we just returned from The Inspiration 11/23. If you want a great Day of laying out, Ocean Kayaking, Ocean trampoleen, Snorkelling... and you want it all for free then go there. The fasilities are very clean and the food and service is excellent.

Yup, those little stinging green Jellyfish are buggers. My 7 year old got stung by one last year at Chankanaab and went into hysterics right in the water. We were swimming in the little alcove beach which has some coral around it.

Most beaches are $14 one way for the taxi.

San Francisco ($12 one way) Free - small with no restrooms, lockers etc
Playa Sol ($14 one way) $8 - with all the amenities
Chak Park ($14 one way) $10 - with all the amenities
Mr Sanchos ($14 one way) Free - with all the amenities
Nachi Cocum ($14 one way) Free (but they do expect you to eat or drink at least $10 per person to use their facilities.....so I don't know if you call that free or not???)

All of these beach resorts run one right after the other on the beach.

Playa Sol is a fun beach if you are single and want a lot of party people.
Chak Park is for the snorklers ... since the waves make snorkling right off the beach less productive.
Mr Sanchos is for the less party atmosphere. Great food and drinks. Free with no hassles by the waiters. Gabriella is wonderful. He isn't pushy, but comes a running when you want something.
Nachi Cocum is even further down the beach for more settled adults. Claims to have the best pool and jaccuzi. No admission fee, but they do expect you to eat or drink at least $10 per person.

There are jet skis and other toys between Mr San and Nachi that you can rent.

I have been seen Paradise, so I am not sure where they squeezed it in...but it is probably along this same stretch of beach.
